Happyface Family Rave: A Preview

(Ad / Preview)

Get your glowsticks out and your neon facepaint on, because on Sunday 9th June Happyface Family Rave is coming to town... and we can't wait!

I'm always on the look out for fun, family events that we can all enjoy, so when I saw this one I instantly knew it would be right up our street! I spent many a Friday and Saturday night during my teens and twenties, raving the night away, glowsticks in hand, dayglow trousers and fluffy boots on, dancing to club classics! I'll have to dig you out a photo...(or not)!

So what is the Happyface Family Rave all about? Nick, the event organiser explains;

"With a nod to the smiley culture of the 80s and 90s, Happyface Family Rave embodies the spirit of a rave experience but with that ‘fun for all the family’ festival vibe; where adults and kids alike can get down and bust some moves on the dancefloor in a nightclub environment!"

Sounds like a bit of nostalgic family fun right? Nick explains how the idea for the rave was born;

"The idea for the event first came about a couple of years ago when I was looking for somewhere to celebrate my pending 40th birthday. I wanted to be able to celebrate with all of the family; where the adults could have a drink and a dance but the kids could be involved also.
Having looked around I found that there was nothing like this in the area so at the beginning of this year, I approached Keele Student Union to hire a venue and it’s all developed from there. So with a LOT of help from friends and family, here we are and the response has been overwhelming!"

But this isn't just a rave for the family to enjoy. Nick had visions of his event helping the wider community too. By attending the rave, you will also be helping out a worthwhile local cause;

"When launching this event, it was always our intention to help raise money for a local children’s charity. The Peter Pan Centre in Newcastle-under-Lyme provides high quality care, support and education to children with special needs aged from birth to 5 years old. We at Happyface Family Rave are proud to help raise money for the centre, with donations from the event and collections.
We have also just confirmed that North Staffs Stormtroopers have kindly offered their time and will be in attendance at the event for photo opportunities and collecting money for the charity."

An even better reason to buy tickets and show your support!

There will be loads of fun activities including face painting and tattoos, photo shoots, a smoke machine, bubbles, balloons, glowsticks, craft stations, refreshments including a fully licenced bar, UV lights and lasers; all to a soundtrack of old skool house, rave and ‘90s club classics, with Golden resident James Camm DJing! There's a large dance floor with perimeter seating where the whole family can throw some shapes, and there's even a chill out room for those who need some time out!

Sound and lighting levels will be monitored throughout the event to ensure the comfort and safety of its youngest ravers! Event stewards will also be on hand to supervise the event and provide first aid assistance if necessary.

The event takes place on the first floor of the venue, which has full accessibility via lift from the main entrance or a same level walkway from the side, making this a pushchair and wheelchair friendly event! There's also free weekend parking just outside the venue (with disabled parking too) and free overflow parking just a short walk away.

So, if you fancy a great afternoon out with the family, visit the Happyface Family Rave Facebook page or website to buy your tickets. But don't hang about, they're selling fast! Adult tickets are only £8, and children up to age 11 are £4 each (plus booking fee). Children 12 months and under are free and their tickets are available upon request following the purchase of an adult ticket.

"Happyface Family Rave is all about reliving those dance floor memories and making some new ones. It’s time to get down. With the kids!"

  3. This sounds like a great event for the whole family. Though, I don't think my 13 year old daughter would be very happy seeing me raving lol.
